The Salzkammergut Flying School has been an established name in paragliding for over 30 years – professional, down-to-earth and at home in one of the most beautiful flying regions in Austria. Since 2024, our flight school has been an integral part of the Salzburg Flying School:
This means concentrated expertise, lean structures and even more experience to combine our offers – from tandem flights to training and advanced training – at the highest level. Through this bundling, we strengthen our performance, synergies in operations and benefit from shared resources for equipment, safety, team development and customer service

We are local pilots and know the conditions around Lake Wolfgangsee and Salzkammergut inside out. We pass on this knowledge personally and directly to our guests.

Four pillars of our strength
A tandem flight from the Zwölferhorn is probably the most impressive way to experience the Salzkammergut from the air. Together with a certified tandem pilot, you glide relaxed over Lake Wolfgangsee, surrounded by mountains and lake panoramas.
Our pilots have many years of experience and know the local conditions inside out – so every flight is safe, calm and an unforgettable experience, even for beginners with no previous experience.
Our pilot training is clearly structured, practical and individually supervised. From the first taster course to basic and high-altitude training and the paragliding license, experienced flight instructors will accompany you step by step on your way to becoming an independent pilot.
We place great emphasis on safety, proper technique and a sound understanding of weather, equipment and flying practice – adapted to your personal learning pace.
In the Paragliding-Store St. Gilgen we offer comprehensive advice on paragliders, harnesses, rescue systems and accessories. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced pilot – we take the time to find the right equipment for your needs.
We also provide service and workshop services such as inspections, rescue packs and equipment checks – competently, reliably and directly on site.
We offer a wide range of training and courses for ambitious pilots. These include safety training on Lake Garda, cross-country flight training and practice-oriented hike & fly workshops in the Salzkammergut.
The range is supplemented by organized flying trips and training camps, where technique, tactics and flying practice are developed in a targeted manner – always accompanied by experienced professionals.

Salzburg Flying School × Salzkammergut
One family - two locations
In 2024, the Salzburg Flight School and the Salzkammergut Flight School merged organizationally. The aim of this merger was to bundle expertise, optimize processes and offer our guests and flight students even more quality, safety and service.
Both locations remain independent in their orientation – united by a common team, shared values and a clear vision for professional aviation.
The Salzburg Flying School in Wals-Himmelreich is our headquarters and central location for organization, training and aviation services.
This is where our administrative structures, training coordination and aviation services with workshop are located, where checks, repairs and rescuer services are carried out professionally.
The location is also an important hub for theory training, material advice and supra-regional course planning.
The Salzkammergut Flying School in St. Gilgen am Wolfgangsee is our location for active flying. Located directly in the flight area on the Zwölferhorn, it is ideal for tandem flights, test flights, high-altitude and performance flights.
Thanks to its close proximity to take-off and landing sites, guests and pilots can experience paragliding where it belongs – in the middle of the Salzkammergut mountains, with short distances and maximum flexibility.
Even though we work at two locations, we remain a family.
The close cooperation between Salzburg and the Salzkammergut creates strong synergies: organization, service and training interlock seamlessly, while each location contributes its particular strengths.
