Why you are in good hands with us
What defines a good tandempilot
A good tandem pilot is not defined by numbers or records, but by calm decision-making, experience in daily flight operations and a fine understanding of weather and conditions. Especially in the alpine terrain of the Salzkammergut, local knowledge, responsibility and sound judgement are essential.
Our tandem pilots are certified, fly year-round and take part in continuous internal training. As a flight school, we place great importance on clear procedures, well-founded decisions and thorough preparation – so you feel comfortable and well looked after from the very first moment.
People who fly here – with experience, responsibility and personality
Our tandem team consists of experienced pilots who are all actively flying. Each brings their own personality to the team, united by shared values: safety, responsibility and the joy of introducing others to the experience of flying.
All pilots are regularly reviewed and internally trained by the Salzkammergut Flight School, ensuring that every tandem flight is carried out to a consistently high standard.

Safety & personal attention
Good reasons for trust, safety and a special flying experience
Why every decision is made with people in mind
For us, safety does not begin at the take-off point, but long before. Every tandem flight is carefully prepared and carried out exclusively by a certified tandem pilot of the Salzkammergut Flight School. The focus is never just on the flight itself, but always on the person flying with us.
As a flight school, we invest in continuous internal training, regular check flights and clear decision-making processes that deliberately go beyond legal requirements. If conditions are not suitable, a flight is postponed or cancelled – calmly, transparently and always in the interest of safety.
Personal attention – time, calmness and care for every guest
For many people, a tandem flight is a very special moment – often their first step into the air. That is exactly why we deliberately take our time. With us, there is no rush, but calm preparation and personal guidance from the first meeting until landing.
Our pilots explain every step clearly, respond individually to each guest and create a relaxed atmosphere. This builds trust – and results in a flying experience that feels safe and leaves a lasting positive memory.
Frequently asked questions about our tandem team
Everything you should know about our pilots before your tandem flight
Who will fly with me – can I choose my tandem pilot?
In most cases, we decide shortly before the flight which pilot will accompany which guest. This allows us to respond flexibly to weather, conditions and the overall schedule.
If you would like to fly with a specific tandem pilot, you are welcome to mention this when booking. We will try to accommodate your request whenever possible.
Do you also have female tandem pilots?
Yes, our team consists of both male and female tandem pilots. Female guests who prefer to fly with a female pilot can simply indicate this preference during booking.
We take such requests into account whenever possible and plan the flight accordingly.
Will I fly alone, or can several people take off at the same time?
We often fly with several tandem pilots at the same time. This makes it possible for multiple guests to take off simultaneously and share the experience together in the air.
This is ideal for couples, families or groups who would like to fly at the same time.
What if I feel nervous or unsure at takeoff?
Our tandem pilots take time before take-off to explain exactly how the flight works, what to expect and why tandem paragliding is safe. In most cases, this preparation helps to reduce nervousness and build confidence.
If you still decide that you do not want to fly, that is completely fine. No one is ever pressured – we will simply return together by cable car or bus.
Which languages do your tandem pilots speak?
Our tandem pilots speak German and English. In addition, some pilots have basic knowledge of Spanish, French and Italian.
We have a lot of experience with international guests. As long as one person in the group can communicate well with us, we ensure that everyone feels safe, informed and comfortable.
Can I take photos or videos myself during the tandem flight – or does the pilot do this?
Safety is our top priority during the flight. Nothing may be dropped or fall, which is why all equipment must be securely attached. Personal cameras or smartphones are therefore difficult to handle and often distract from the flying experience.
Our tandem pilots take photos and videos using professional action cameras with secure mounts and optimized settings. This allows you to fully focus on the flight and enjoy high-quality memories afterwards.
Who decides whether a tandem flight takes place?
The final decision is always made by the pilot directly at the take-off site. Wind, weather and current conditions can best be assessed there. Factors such as a guest’s size, weight and physical condition are also taken into account.
Sometimes patience is required, as conditions may improve over time. If they do not, we decide in the interest of safety and postpone or cancel the flight.
