Paragliding in Austria for tourists is easy to arrange at Lake Wolfgang. At Tandem Paragliding & Flight School Salzkammergut, we welcome international visitors for tandem flights from the Zwölferhorn in St. Gilgen, near Salzburg. You fly with an experienced pilot, and no previous paragliding experience is needed.
We regularly fly with guests from around the world. Whether you are visiting from China, Taiwan, South Korea, Japan, the USA, the UK, Canada, Australia, an Arab country or anywhere else, we look forward to meeting you. Our team speaks English and German, and we help with translation when needed.
Our experienced tandem pilots know the Zwölferhorn and its local flying conditions. As a flight school, we also train pilots and tandem pilots. Clear preparation, suitable conditions and carefully checked equipment are central to our work.
English-speaking pilots and clear instructions
You do not need to speak German to fly with us. We explain the experience in English and are used to welcoming guests with different levels of English.
If someone in your group speaks English, they can help with communication during the preparations. We also help with translation. With patience, clear explanations and a little creativity, we work through language differences together.
Before take-off, your pilot explains what you need to do during take-off, the flight and landing. What matters is that each passenger understands and can follow the instructions. There is time to ask questions and clarify anything that is unclear.
If you speak very little English, contact us before booking so we can discuss how to communicate during your visit. You are welcome to tell us if you feel nervous, too. Knowing how you feel helps us prepare with you.
Fly from the Zwölferhorn above Lake Wolfgang
Our main flying area is the Zwölferhorn, directly above St. Gilgen on Lake Wolfgang, also known as Wolfgangsee. It is a place to experience the lakes and mountains of Austria’s Salzkammergut region from the air.
We meet at our flight school at Konrad-Lesiak-Platz 5, 5340 St. Gilgen, right beside the valley station of the Zwölferhorn cable car. From there, we travel up the mountain together and prepare for your flight.
Allow around 1.5 hours for the overall experience, plus time for your journey and possible weather-related delays. The cable car ticket is separate from the flight price. You can find arrival details and current flight options on our Lake Wolfgang tandem paragliding page.
Easy booking, payment and luggage storage
You can book your flight online in English and receive your booking confirmation in English. If you would like help choosing a date or have questions about your travel plans, contact us by email or WhatsApp.
Payment is straightforward, with options including credit or debit card, PayPal and Alipay. You can check the available payment methods when booking.
Travelling with luggage is easy to manage: you can leave your bags in a safe place at our office while you fly. This is useful if you are visiting St. Gilgen for the day or continuing your journey afterwards. Your backpack or suitcase can stay on the ground while you enjoy the view.
For the flight itself, wear closed shoes that fit securely, ideally with a good grip, and clothing suited to the weather. We provide your helmet and flying equipment. Optional photos and videos taken by your pilot let you bring home memories of the flight without managing a camera in the air.
Weather changes and your holiday plans
Tandem paragliding depends on suitable weather and wind conditions. We recommend planning your flight early in your stay, leaving room for an alternative date if necessary.
If we cannot fly because of unsuitable weather, there is no cancellation fee. We can arrange another date, or refund the flight price if an alternative is not possible.
