What is a tandem flight?
A tandem flight is the easiest and safest way to experience paragliding in the Salzkammergut for yourself. You fly together with an experienced tandem pilot in a specially approved two-seater paraglider.
The pilot takes over the controls, navigation and safety checks – you can concentrate fully on the flying experience.
After a few steps at the start, you gently take off and glide silently over lakes, mountains and valleys. A tandem flight requires no previous experience and is the first contact with paragliding for many people.
A tandem flight is all about trust. That’s why at the Salzkammergut flight school you fly exclusively with highly experienced tandem pilots, many of whom also work as flight instructors. They have many years of flying experience and are very familiar with the special conditions in the Alps.
As a locally rooted flying school, we have been active in the Salzkammergut for many years. This experience is a decisive safety factor – especially in changeable weather conditions in the mountains.
A tandem flight is more than just the moment in the air. It is important to us that the entire process feels harmonious, relaxed and personal right from the start.
You meet your tandem pilot directly on site and receive a short, clear briefing. You then head up the mountain together, with your pilot giving you an insight into the surrounding region and the flying area.
The flight itself is tailored to your individual needs – calm and enjoyable with plenty of panoramic views or, if you prefer and the conditions are right, a little more dynamic. After landing safely, your tandem flight comes to a relaxed end and you take your experience home with a good feeling.

Our mountains for tandem flights
The most beautiful mountains for tandem flights in the Salzkammergut
The Zwölferhorn is our main flying area and for many guests the epitome of a tandem flight in the Salzkammergut. No other flying mountain combines panorama, infrastructure and flying conditions in such a balanced way.
With an altitude difference of around 900 meters, there is a wide view over Lake Wolfgangsee, the Schafberg, Lake Mondsee and towards Lake Fuschlsee. The combination of lake and mountain panorama makes every flight here particularly impressive.
Our flight school is located right next to the Zwölferhorn cable car, which means short distances and a relaxed process – even for several flights or groups.
The Gaisberg near Salzburg offers tandem flights with a special combination of alpine terrain and city panorama. The view extends over Salzburg’s old town, the foothills of the Alps and the surrounding mountains.
With an altitude difference of around 650 meters, the Gaisberg is ideal for compact flying experiences. It can be used all year round and is our preferred flying area, especially in winter, as safe flights are regularly possible here even in the colder months.
The Loser in Ausseerland stands for a particularly alpine tandem flight. During the flight, you can enjoy sweeping views of Lake Altaussee and the Dachstein massif with its glacier.
With an altitude difference of around 1,000 meters, the Loser is one of the highest altitude flying areas in the region. The conditions are more challenging than on the Zwölferhorn or Gaisberg, which is why flying here is preferred in stable weather conditions – ideal in summer and fall, and also in winter if the conditions are right.

Booking & Flexibility
Tandem flights can be booked directly online either as a fixed date or by redeeming a voucher. As paragliding is highly dependent on weather and conditions, every booked date is always a weather-dependent flight date.
Especially in the alpine region of the Salzkammergut, it may be necessary to react flexibly. We will inform you as soon as reliable weather forecasts are available and always try to create planning security at an early stage. At the same time, we ask for your understanding that decisions can sometimes only be made at short notice.

Weather & flight decision
Paragliding is an outdoor and air sports activity where safety is always the top priority. Factors such as wind, thermals, cloud cover and visibility play a decisive role.
We always try to give a realistic assessment in advance, based on current weather models and our experience, as to whether a tandem flight is likely to be feasible or not. This assessment helps with planning and orientation.
However, especially in the Alps, weather forecasts can be uncertain or change at short notice. In some cases, the weather forecast shows different conditions than those that actually occur on site.
For this reason, the final launch decision can only be made directly at the launch site, where all relevant factors can be reliably assessed. This procedure is a central component of our safety concept.
Cancellation, alternative date & refund
We provide an estimate in advance as to whether the flight is likely to take place. In rare cases, however, conditions may develop differently than forecast or the weather forecast may turn out to be incorrect. Therefore, the final decision can only be made at the launch site.
In this case, the following options are available:
We will arrange an alternative date together, or
the flight price will be refunded if no alternative date is possible or desired.
Please note that any additional costs already incurred, such as cable car tickets or individual travel, cannot be refunded as these are incurred independently of the flight.
Groups & multiple pilots
Tandem flights are also easily possible for couples, families and larger groups. Several tandem pilots are usually on duty at our flying sites at the same time, usually between two and five pilots, depending on the weather, demand and flying area.
In the case of joint bookings, we try to have all participants fly as close together as possible or at the same time. However, depending on organizational or safety-related conditions, it may be the case that more than two people fly in several take-off rounds.
Important to know:
During the flight, each person is always alone in the air with their respective pilot. This keeps the flight experience calm, personal and individual – regardless of the size of the group.
For company events, celebrations or special group requests, we recommend contacting us directly by e-mail or telephone so that we can coordinate the schedule individually.

How safe is paragliding and who will I fly with?
With tandem paragliding, you fly with licensed tandem pilots, many of whom are also flight instructors. We only fly with modern, regularly inspected equipment and only in safe weather conditions. A small residual risk can never be completely ruled out, but safety is always the top priority.
What happens if the weather changes at short notice?
The final launch decision is made directly at the launch site. If a safe take-off is not possible, the flight will be canceled. An alternative date will be offered or the flight price will be refunded. Additional costs already incurred cannot be refunded.
What are the weight limits for tandem paragliding?
The regular body weight is between 20 and 100 kg. On the Zwölferhorn, a flight up to 130 kg is possible for an extra charge of € 30. A short run-up at the start and normal physical strength are sufficient.
Is there a minimum or maximum age for tandem flights?
There is no fixed age limit for a tandem flight with a paraglider. The decisive factor is not age, but physical fitness, in particular the ability to walk a few steps with the pilot at take-off. <br>
Children are welcome when tandem paragliding. A declaration of consent from a parent or guardian is required for underage passengers.
Older guests can also experience a tandem flight without any problems, provided there are no health restrictions. If you are unsure, we recommend a brief personal consultation so that we can assess the flight optimally.
Do I need to be athletic or have previous experience?
No, no previous sporting experience is required. A tandem flight is easily achievable for most people and is ideal for beginners.
When taking off, all you need to do is take a few steps together with the tandem pilot. During the flight, you sit comfortably and safely in the tandem harness, comparable to a relaxed sitting position.
The professional tandem pilot takes care of all tasks such as steering, navigation and safety. You can concentrate fully on the flying experience and the view.
Is paragliding also possible for people with a fear of heights?
In most cases , fear of heights is not a problem with tandem paragliding. Many guests report that they even feel surprisingly comfortable in the air.
The reason for this is that when paragliding there is no direct connection to the ground and you sit safely in your harness. The feeling is very different from situations such as ladders, balconies or viewing platforms.
A certain amount of nervousness before take-off is completely normal and subsides for most passengers shortly after take-off. It is often replaced by a feeling of calm, freedom and impressive views. Our experienced pilots will respond to your feelings at all times.
Can several people fly tandem together?

How do I get photos and videos of my tandem flight?
Photos and videos of your tandem flight are transferred to your smartphone immediately after landing. This means you get all your recordings in the best quality and can view them immediately, save them or share them with family and friends.
The handover is uncomplicated and takes place directly on site, without waiting time or subsequent download. So you can take your flying experience straight home with you.
